The Animal Emergency Service reported the tragic fate of many animals that lived on a property near Szamotuły. On Monday, August 12, there will be another hearing regarding animal cruelty on a farm where animals were kept. The organization is acting as an auxiliary prosecutor in the case.
Starving animals were taken from the farm – 7 dogs and 11 calves
According to the Animal Emergency Service, in January 2023, 7 starving dogs and 11 calves were taken from a farm located in a village near Szamotuły.
The animals were kept on chains, without access to food or water, and were so weak that they could not stand up. We also found dead animals on the property, covered with straw, the organization claims.
The animals were kept in tragic conditions.
In addition to dogs and calves, there were other animals on the farm such as horses, pigs and poultry.
All of them lived in very poor conditions. The dogs were locked in cages and kept on a leash. They had injuries on their bodies, were starved, dehydrated and very afraid of people. The cows were permanently chained, living in their own excrements that had not been cleaned for many weeks. One of the cows was lying in manure with a prolapsed vagina and anus, without any medical help – he adds.
The owner appeared in court again
The owner of the farm was brought to court. According to the Animal Emergency organization, the accused pleads not guilty.
He faces up to 3 years in prison and the forfeiture of all 18 animals that were taken from his property.
