A woman came across a dog lying on the side of the road, writes illovemydogsomuch

He wasn’t moving and she thought he was dead. She started to cry but as she sobbed, the dog’s paw moved. She looked closer and saw that his chest was rising and falling, but barely. The poor dog was barely breathing.

The abandoned puppy was struggling, on the verge of death. The woman called a friend for help. She prayed that her friend would arrive in time. The woman’s friend volunteers at a nearby shelter. She would know what to do! When he arrived and saw the dog, he was taken aback. The dog was so weak he couldn’t even wake up.

The man and his friend used a sheet, like a stretcher, to carry the dog to their vehicle. They then rushed to the veterinary clinic. The vet and his staff got to work right away. They were very concerned about the dog who was still struggling to wake up. His blood work revealed why. He was extremely anemic due to malnutrition. He was also dehydrated and in the early stages of hypothermia.

The vet first administered IV fluids and then arranged for a blood transfusion. They had to increase his hemoglobin or he would not survive. Within a few days, the dog made tremendous progress. He could not even sit up and now he was standing, eager to eat a real meal!

This poor boy hasn’t seen real food in a long time. He ate it all and then wanted more! The vet is so happy that the dog, who was close to death, is now on the road to full recovery.
