A woman has gone viral on TikTok after being filmed literally fighting off a bear to save her dogs.
What would you do if you looked out your window and a huge brown bear threatened the lives of your cubs? Would you run away or risk your life?
A woman named Hailey had an unusual Memorial Day experience when her pets suddenly came face to face with a massive bear and her cub scaling a wall near her home. Two small dogs and a large dog immediately rushed to confront the predator and her cub, barking furiously and lunging unsuccessfully in its direction.
However, the bear lunged at the larger dog twice, causing the frightened dog to back away before the smaller dogs suddenly found themselves in the danger zone. Suddenly, the camera caught Hailey wearing a blue dress running down the trail straight toward the bear.
Amazingly, she can be seen forcefully pushing the huge bear so that it falls over the other side of the wall. In the seconds she had before the bear climbed back up the wall, she gathered her dogs and ran inside.
The whole thing was caught on CCTV and uploaded, along with the popular song Oh No by Kreepa, by Hailey’s cousin Brenda, with the caption: “My cousin Hailey scared a bear out of her enclosure today and saved her dogs. How was your Memorial Day?!”
As it turns out, Hailey is actually a 17-year-old and she shared her experience in more detail on her TikTok story, casually explaining, “I thought they were just barking at a dog.. and I go over there and I think that’s a funny looking dog. When I get over there, the bear is literally picking up one of my dogs.
“I go down there and I look the bear in the eye and the first thing I thought about doing was pushing it, pushing a predatory man to the apex. I don’t think I pushed her that hard, I just pushed her enough to make her lose her balance. So I let go of my dog and I run out of there.
She added that she dislocated a finger and a knee during the process, but other than that she and the dogs are all fine.
Viewers were amazed by Hailey’s bravery with one person commenting, “She’s on my zombie apocalypse team!” Another person said, “She just pushed that bear around like it was a stuffed animal.”
Others even felt sympathy for the bear who appeared to be defending her cub, describing it as the “victim” and even exclaiming, “If you ever see her fighting in the forest with a grizzly bear, help the bear.”
Of course, the video has now gone massively viral on TikTok with over 25 million views and three million likes in less than 12 hours.
