Memories of a Once Loved Dog: The Journey from a Warm Family to a Life of Loneliness and Illness.

Nova’s story began on a gloomy afternoon.
I received a call from a rescue station.
My heart grew heavy as I listened to the information over the phone.
Nova had parasites in her blood, and severe anemia.
She suffered from chronic mange and secondary chronic infections.
These issues caused her to become dehydrated.
Her body was cold, and she had potential kidney problems.
But that wasn’t all.

She also had an eye infection.
She was so severely malnourished that she was just skin and bones.
At only 2-3 years old, she carried within her fifty shades of chaos and destruction.
What surprised me even more was that she had an owner.
Nova wasn’t a stray dog.
She wasn’t a forgotten creature lost in the bustling city.
She had a place she once called “home.”
But sadly, they had carelessly allowed Nova to fall into this condition.
When I arrived, I saw Nova lying silently in an old iron cage.
Her eyes were dull.

Deep within her cloudy eyes were traces of loss.
Her fur had almost completely fallen off.
Cracked, peeling skin revealed her emaciated body.
Each bone was visible under her thin skin.
But what left me speechless were her eyes.
They were the eyes of a creature that had lost all hope.
I gently approached, sat down, and reached my hand through the bars.
Though weak, Nova tried to move her head closer to me.
In that moment, I realized Nova hadn’t given up her desire to be loved.
