You chose a trap to inflict pain and leave me to die
My family came to help as you heard them cry
Why must you be so cruel when all I was doing was trying to eat my gruel
For days I was so thirsty but could not drink
My leg so swollen ,sore and pink
It hurt so bad I wanted to cry
How could anyone leave me to die?
I will now lose my leg and not be able to climb or hide in my tree …
Or wash my food with my hands, how God made me
My fate is now to live my life in a cage…with limited space, as I age
All as you continue to enjoy your life
Not thinking of me or my life of strife
Ban the inhumane traps, stop the torture, we must insist that we all coexist!
